Ipad Eufloria - doesn't save

Hi,

I'm playing Eufloria on an ipad1, with ios5.0.1.

If I hit the home button while I'm playing, do something else for a while, and then return to Eufloria later, then I lose the game I was playing and have to start that level again.

If it's meant to be auto-saving the game state, this doesn't seem to be working for me.

If it's not meant to be auto-saving, then please could we have a "save" option added urgently - some of the levels take me a while to complete, and having to restart is going to get really frustrating.

At the moment it doesn't save during a level as with the other versions, only at the end of a level.

Technically it's very problematic to add - which is why it isn't there yet - but it is something we're looking at for a major update. It's certainly more of an issue on iPad 1 which tends to flush the app a lot quicker than iPad 2.

I guess you only get a very short time to save before the app gets killed - so I can see it's difficult. A lot of games don't manage it.

But an explicit "save" option from the "pause" menu would be nearly as good and hopefully easier to implement?

There is a state-save thing for the PC version, could something like that be added? I think Aino made it, but it does need to use Lua. If you were to only have a hidden single game-state file that auto-saves on game exit/pause, could that work?

It would be some kind of auto save if we did it.

Various reasons for it being rather tricky and prone to nasty bugs (which would be really bad).

Since it is likely to be a significant job, perhaps we should improve the game and add some planned features first. It's a minor flaw I think and one we'd like to deal with in a perfect world, but many other successful and even similar games have the same issue.

This also affects the Android version.

20+ minutes is just a bit too much for me sometimes, saving would be handy.

I've had to do Containment II four times before I had enough time to complete it :)

I only found out on friday that the android version wasn't saving when the app goes into the background. That will be patched ASAP.
