I reckon these are all bots. They either have useless links as signatures, or have website that are obviously for advertising. There's probably more, judging by the way membership has jumped in the past week or so, but there are hardly any new people posting. Of course, if you're on this list and you aren't a bot, I apologize, and also suggest that you change your profile.

Changed the captcha solution again, and just got done testing it.  Seems to work good.  Now I guess we can wait and see if any more linkspam accounts are registered.

Same username layout as all the others, though.

Weird.  I have no idea how they are getting past it.  I administer another forum that uses the exact same software and anti-bot mods and it's totally fine..

Hmm...  will have a think on this.

Mh. Let’s plant defense trees around the entrance.

Plus, you could install the appended image instead of captcha and ask how many Laser Mines there are, and maybe this would intimidate them bastards? ;)

Ok my new theory is that the bots that have continued to register, had previous submitted details, but just hadn't activated the account yet.

I've just cleared out the Awaiting Activation list, so maybe now they will stop...

But not any more.

howard7352

Registered after you added the new captcha and cleared the awaiting activation list. 3:07 pm GMT, to be precise.

Bonobo's (joke?) idea seems a good one, although maybe 'how many trees' would be better (with a random number of trees each time), because new people may not know what a laser mine is. I know I always called them dreadnoughts before I knew what they were called.

Sigh, they are still getting in.  Not sure how they are managing, unless it's a human signing up all the accounts.
