Map - Eclipse
« on: June 05, 2015, 07:03:02 PM »

Eclipse

An Eclipse has darkened seedling space and rendered them blind to their surroundings. Can you prevail in the battle for the asteroid
field without knowing where or when you will be attacked next? Take on the challenge of the Eclipse.

Features:
Altered appearance of playing field- seedlings, trees, etc. invisible to player.
Selectable opponents include Eufloria, Infected, Merchant, and Mutant AIs.
Limited randomization in map generation with expanded options in script code.
AI war observer mode.
Difficulty adjustments available in selection menu(s).
Introducing Connections function.

Notes:
In the creation of this map I ran into a problem with the changing camera position not keeping up with other game elements.
I managed to solve the problem on my computer but am not sure if the solution will translate to slower machines adequately.
Also, trying to contain the Eufloria AI to it's assigned Empire proved tricky as others have noted.

If you identify any problems in the operation or errors in code, or if you have any suggestions for improving the Game Play or requests for other features, let me know.

Special thanks to Aino for his Trigonometric expertise!

Also attached is some code I call "Connections" which in my testing works well with every map I've tried.
It makes for some mesmerizing viewing when inserted into maps with moving asteroids such as Frontier,
Recursion, Magellanic Metro, Galaxium, etc. With modifications it could provide some intriguing map
designs in the future. For some reason, it proves very finicky in initializing and functioning properly,
but the attached code seems to have alleviated the problems I encountered. Hence the "No known issues"
classification below.

Fixes/Updates:
06/04/15 Ver 1.0
Eclipse Map Published. No known issues.
Connections Code Published. No known issues.

06/12/15 Ver 1.1
Tweaked center-point calculation for connections

09/15/15 Eclipse Ver 1.2
Eclipse Map-Corrected small error in Connections code.
Since previous version is adapted around the "error" I suggest you
continue to use the previous version of the Eclipse Map. However, download
the new "Connections Code" for the corrected version of that code.

09/15/15 Connections Code Ver 1.1
Connections Code-Corrected typing error resulting in misalignment
of asteroid connectors. The source of this "error" eluded me until it was
discovered during Eclipse-B Map development.
