OMG, monday … that’s a long time to wait if you’ve got a toothache, no matter how stoned the pills make you. Did you tell the doc resp. her/his helper that you have toothache or did you just request an appointment? Usually if you’re in pain they let one come next day or the day after, sometimes even same day. You just have to make it very clear that you have pain.

Reminds me that I have “make appointment w/ dentist” on my To-Do list since first of January …

Anyway, I wish you speedy recovery, and enjoy the floating as much as possible ;)

Yeh they know I am in pain.  Dental appointments are hard to come by in the UK, the public health system doesn't pay enough to make it worth the dentists' while.
I used to work for this particular dentist, looking after their computers, so I have some knowledge about the problems they are facing.

Anyway, codeine seems to do the trick.  Makes me feel a bit weird though..

Ah, the good old NHS!

Mind you, an eight-year-old brother with toothache when on holiday in France on a French bank holiday isn't much fun either. 'Jus de Paracetamol' - 'Paracetamol juice' was the closest we could think of for Calpol, or the French equivalent. Apparently it's 'Analgesic pour les enfants', or 'children's painkillers' is what we wanted, but you don't really learn that at GSCE level...

Mh… Codeine :D I remember stealing Codeine, one good gulp  a day, when I was six (47 yrs ago :D), from the (not so well) hidden place where my father (an M.D.) used to store the bottle for home use. I guess that explains some of the experiences I made in the rest of my life … but AFAIK Codeine today isn’t the same as Codeine was then.

And Paracetamol? Very bad for your liver, IIRC. Better to take Ibuprofene (or what’s it called over there).

You used to steal it?!? It can't have been that hard if you were six!

Oh, you didn't happen to do bizarre things because of it, did you? IMHO, it'd be intriguing to hear of your wierd and wonderful Codeine-fuelled stories! ;D

Oh, I tell you, it was. I guess I was smarter as a kid than I am as an old-ish man now :-S

Uhm, can’t remember anything extraordinary, except for the fact that my whole childhood was extraordinary—growing up as a pale sahib kid in Kerala, South India.

Mh, not really much to say except there was a lot of drug (ab)use later in my life <cough>. My late father was an M.D. and I grew up in the 60s in a family (and more globally: in a thought climate, in an era) where the use of substances for respectively against almost anything was considered legitimate. I am abhorred if only I think about how we used "Flit" (DDT) against every poor-ish insect (I must have inhaled LOTS of this poison), and how much Penicillin I *ate* against any inflammation.

But … the older I grow, the cleaner I get, with very few exceptions growing in my garden.
